Lena Hoffmann

Bio

Lena Hoffmann is a Berlin-based filmmaker who weaves experimental film, archival footage, and quiet introspection to explore themes of memory, identity, and migration. A descendant of Turkish and East German heritage, her work grapples with personal and political displacement, often told through the lens of everyday objects, fractured timelines, and layered imagery. Lena’s films are both poetic and grounded—blurring the line between personal memory and collective history.

Genre

Documentary

Signature Work

Echoes We Inherit explores intergenerational silence and fragmented belonging across two homes: a Berlin apartment and a grandmother’s house in Izmir. The film blends family recordings, cityscape shots, and whispered narration to evoke the complexity of inherited memory.

How Artramedia Helped:

Artramedia featured Lena’s work as part of the Borderlands & Belonging collection, elevating her film to international academic and curatorial audiences. The platform supported Lena with personalized distribution tools and translation services, resulting in licensing deals with two European museums and several diaspora-focused education networks. The visibility not only grew her subscriber base and monthly royalties, but also led to her selection for Artramedia’s Creator Residency, where she began production on her next cross-cultural film project.
